I started writing Ryker in February of this year, after a boring night shift at work. I work in a special care home for seniors and after they are in bed, there isn't a whole lot to do. I'd always wanted to write one but never could just stick to it. I don't know where Ryker or the Kings of Korruption came from. Every other story I had ever attempted to write was an angsty young adult romance. One night, I just sat down and started writing and Ryker was what poured out onto my computer.
After writing it, I had to learn to market it. All I have to say there is, thank God for google. I was able to look up anything and everything I needed to learn and able to muddle through how to do it. I had a personal assistant for a short time but that didn't pan out. Long story short, just days before my release, I was left with unanswered messages and zero of the help she had promised me. I may or may not have panicked.
Ryker was released on August 14th and I was working a 12 hour day shift. I was constantly slipping into the bathroom to check my Amazon account and Goodreads on my phone, to see if people were actually buying my book. And they were! This blew my mind.
At the same time, my release party was happening on Facebook. That day, I was both at work and trying to be at my release party, while Amanda took up the slack. It was multi-tasking at it's finest, but luckily, I am an excellent multi-tasker and my new PA is pretty much the shit.
Now 5 days later, I am receiving emails and Facebook messages from new fans (yes, fans!) saying how much they all loved my book, as well as excellent reviews that I am proud to receive. This has made it all worth it. Needless to say, although I have done nothing but work my job and sit on the computer at home for the last week promoting Ryker, this has been the most rewarding journey I have ever been on.
I thank each and every one of you that has left a review on my book or sent me a message. Your encouragement has gotten me through one of the craziest times of my life and I can't wait to do it all again when I bring you the rest of the Kings of Korruption.
