Shelly had just started her fan page on Facebook, and I was proud "Like" number 7. I watched her start to promote a book, that had yet to be released, with zero fan base. Her blurbs and teasers were not only hot, they were amazing, letting me know that I was going to love her books. I won an ARC of her first book through a contest she held on her page ... at the time, there wasn't a whole lot of competition. It blew me away!
"When life gives you lemons, it’s time for shots of tequila. That’s my new saying in life, and trust me, life handed me lots of lemons.
For eighteen years I took those lemons that life and “destiny” threw at me and made lemonade, but I’m no longer a naive girl. I was forced to grow up too fast and the one person I depended on turned his back on me. So now I say screw the lemonade and just give me a bottle of tequila, because I don’t believe in destiny anymore.
There is no pre-designed path set out for each of us. Sometimes bad things happen, it’s just a part of life. It sucks, but you have to pick yourself up and get on with your life. I’m done just sitting around and waiting for my life to change or something good to just fall in my lap. It took me awhile to understand, but once I was done being the doormat to destiny, it was time for me to take control. I would decide where I would go in life and what would happen. It wouldn't always be pretty, it would sometimes hurt like hell, but I would make sure I lived my life to the fullest.
It time to rewrite destiny."
There are so many reasons I loved this book. Dani has had a shitty hand dealt to her in life but she's not a whiner. She's actually pretty badass. I hate a whiny heroine. Zane is sexy and very much an alpha male, even as a kid. He's human though and makes a lot of mistakes ... big ones. There were many times I wanted to smack him upside the head during the first half of this book.
The second half of the story takes place years later. Dani and Zane are all grown up now. She's even more badass and Zane is even more of an alpha. I loved them both. This book ran me through so many emotions all at once, it's hard to pick just one. This book was funny, devastating, sweet, intense and powerful. Shelly Morgan is a truly brilliant and gifted author. I'm waiting (rather impatiently) for the next book, titled Fighting Destiny, to release. It comes out on July 15, 2015 ... so just a few more days!!! You can bet your ass I've pre-ordered that one!
